Morally offensive is when something offends you on a moral level. In other words, it offends (or goes against) your sense of decency. For example, when you watch a TV show or movie with vulgar language that makes you cringe, that is an attack on your sense of decency, therefore, is morally offensive. I like to imagine Jesus sitting next to me on the couch and watching the show with me. If I think He would be wagging His finger at me because I’m enjoying it, then I consider that morally offensive.I dont think I really understand what morally offensive means.Can anyone please tell me.Like if a charachter in a movie is nihilistic,another ones hedonistic and anothoer one is amoral and they say disrespectful stuff about like people and society in general is that morally offensive?.
I just want to add, that when the Church talks about something being morally offensive, it isn’t that it offends you or me, but that it offends *God *and the *moral law *he has given us. Our own sense of whether something is offensive is subjective, and quite frankly we can be wrong because we are desensitized by the culture around us and by our own sin.
The Church’s moral guidance is based in objective truth. Therefore, it is trustworthy.
