Peace be with you!

I attend mass recently, and went to recieve the Precious Blood, and before I recieved I noticed a look of concern on the EMHC face. When I looked down into the chalice, and saw a bug swimming, I realized why.

I still recieved anyways, but I was concerned as one of my friends has a huge PHOBIA of BUGS and I was afraid she would have freaked out, caused a huge scene, and drop chalice and have the Precious Blood spill every where! Luckily, she didn’t notice- and I didn’t tell her!

I am just wondering- what should the laity who notices the bug do, or the EMHC do in that situation.

God Bless,

Carl

Hi Carl,

The minister should take the chalice to the altar and remove the bug with a purificator (small cloth that he or she holds). Then he or she can resume the ministry. It’s just a matter of common sense.
