What does the church teach about a labyrinth display?

My child’s Catholic school is putting a labyrinth display up for demonstation for the 4th grade class. I believe the teacher is talking to them about how people pray in the labryinth and it brings you closer to God as one walks reverently towards the middle. Is this considered “New Age” or is there a reason to be cautious? Thanks.
