What does the Church teach about the use of "Mediums" to contact the dead?

I have a small group of women who meet weekly to study the Gospel and have a book study. The topic of the show “Long Island Medium” came up and one woman said, “Oh she is catholic and lives her faith on the show.” I don’t want to lead the ladies away from church teaching so could you shed some light on the subject.
Thank you

Hi,

This is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church has to say on using mediums: “All forms of divination are to be rejected: recourse to Satan or demons, conjuring up the dead or other practices falsely supposed to ‘unveil’ the future. Consulting horoscopes, astrology, palm reading, interpretation of omens and lots, the phenomena of clairvoyance, and recourse to mediums all conceal a desire for power over time, history, and, in the last analysis, other human beings, as well as a wish to conciliate hidden powers. They contradict the honor, respect and loving fear the we owe to God alone.”
