What does the Church teach about wearing a Mantilla in church?

I am a new convert to the Catholic faith, and have begun wearing a Mantilla. How do I deal with members of the parish who stare and give me strange looks? I feel as if god has directed me to cover my head, and feel as if I am offending parish members at the same time. I want to do what god instructs me, but do not want to be singled out.
How should I handle this situation?
