What exactly is Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit? Did I do it?

So, long story short I have OCD and am a cynical pessimist, and I was confused greatly after debating Evangelicals to the point where I believed Jesus got His powers from the devil. I seem to actually believe this, I don’t know why. I’d soon think things like I’m deliberately going to think that the evil one is the source of your powers now, in a way to insult, but I’m quick to draw back. I’m very worried about this and cannot shake this evil bug out of my head? Am I going to Hell? Did I miss out on my chance at Paradise? I’m on the verge of tears as I look at pictures and think I could not have it… I just want Jesus to hold me in His arms and tell me it’s okay…
just tell me the honest truth: did I or did I not do it?

No sin is grave enough that God won’t forgive it if one repents and asks forgiveness, none.

The sin against the Holy Spirit that Jesus says cannot be forgiven is not a past moment of saying that Jesus was under the influence of the devil. It is the firmly held and ongoing belief that Jesus is possessed by Satan. This issue came up when some religious leaders looked at Jesus and all that he said and did and said. “he is possessed by a demon.” They did not lose sleep over it nor did they wish for Jesus to hold on to them and say it was ok. They were so convinced that they were right.

Your own feelings about the matter bear witness to the fact that your flaw, whatever it may be, is something different than the “sin against the Holy Spirit” that is mentioned in Scripture.

What do you believe now about Jesus. We do not see him face to face like the people of his own time saw him. It is possible that you have a distorted view of Jesus (as all of our views must be at least a little) and that you were responding to the distortions when you thought Jesus got his powers from the devil. The Scriptures do give reliable truth about Jesus but even if a person knows Scriptures well it is still difficult to keep all the teachings in proper perspective.

Pray for complete understanding. Be at peace. Hold fast to your desire to know and love the true Jesus.

As a further point of what was just said, Jesus said that if he is of the devil, then why does he himself cast out devils and work against the devil? A house divided against itself cannot stand.

Is the unforgiveable sin the one where you deny what was revealed to you?

The unforgiveable sin is denying that something which is good and of God (in some way) is not good and of God, or saying positively that it is evil – and then sticking with that forever and refusing to ask God’s forgiveness, despite knowing perfectly well that you’re wrong.

You can always ask God’s forgiveness at any time, for any sin. He is kind and merciful.
