What exactly is sinful about being gay?

I know this may be a stupid question to ask, but I was wondering what is a sin in being gay? I can imagine the “acts” that are done would be a sin, but would just having the feelings for the person of the same sex and NOT acting on them be a sin?

There is nothing sinful about having same sex attractions any more than being attracted to someone else’s spouse. It’s what one does about it that can be sinful.

The Church sees same sex attractions as disordered in that men and women are not designed for it. So to have such attractions can be a heavy cross to bear. But as with all the crosses the Lord gives us, this cross is a very powerful way to offer one’s sacrificial love to the Lord who sacrificed Himself for us to the point of dying on a cross. Such crosses remind us that, despite what our culture tells us, our lives are all about Him.
