What exactly is the definition of a fundamentalist?

Karl Keating does alot of talking about “Fundamentalists.” He has a book entitled Catholicism and Fundamentalism and discusses an encounter he had with a fundamentalist in his November 16th eLetter. I’ve deduced that Baptists and “Bible Christians” would be considered fundamentalists, but what is it about them that makes them fundamentalist? What’s the definition?
