What Gifts Are You Buying For Christmas??

Who Are You Buying Gifts For?

What are you buying your spouse, kids, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandfathers, co-workers, the boss, friends, neighbors, priests, deacons, nuns, etc??

I thought it would be fun to find out what gifts you are buying. It would give others ideas on what gifts to buy. Our family keeps the gift buying to a minimum to place more of an emphasis on the spiritual rather than material meaning of Christmas. None the less, the gift giving is an exciting part of Christmas.

I bought most of my gifts at our local Catholic gift store. What Gifts Are You Buying For Christmas??

What Gifts Are You Buying For Christmas?? Coats, clothes, toys, food & partial tuition payments for numerous families with children that can not afford the tuition at Catholic Schools.
Who Are You Buying Gifts For?
My two children, 4 nephews, 1 niece and numerous less fortunate families.
What are you buying your spouse, kids, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, grandfathers, co-workers, the boss, friends, neighbors, priests, deacons, nuns, etc??
Spouse and I do not exchange gifts, We do buy gifts for the kids in the family though.

Since my extended family (ie, aunties, uncles, grandparents, first cousins and their spouses and children) is over 100 people, I don’t think I ever will have a Christmas where I buy presents for all of them! I get ‘presents’ for my brothers and sisters and parents - what I do is put envelopes on the Christmas tree, put different amounts of money (about $25 to $50) in each of the envelopes, and let them each pick an envelope. This idea was borrowed off my grandparents who used to do the same thing, except for our whole family on that side.

I am a male, and don’t really like going shopping, and don’t like it when I buy people gifts that they end up not wanting (no one ever tells me what they want for Christmas). So I figure, if I give money as a gift then they can buy what they like for themselves. However, I understand that this isn’t the preferred way of giving for eveyone (if we all gave money to each other then we’d end up right back where we started…)
 
I gave my nana a picture of two people when you look at it one way it is Our Blessed Mother but if you look at it a different way it is Our Lord. But then the rest got candy or something small and nice except for my two neices who i spoiled this year and got them several toys
 
Books.

I buy books that I like and give them to people. That way, when I visit there, I will have something to read.

We actually broke down and bought some nice sweaters for DH’s family, but I hope to stick to more things that are home-made for my family, as well as a few things from our parish gift shop.

We have also considered donating in the names of family members. We might do that next year, since we will be more occupied with a 9-month-old then!
