What hand does the Promise, Engagement and Wedding Ring go on for Chaldean women?

Hello, I’m Chaldean. This answer may come late for you, but engagement rings go on the ring finger of the right hand until marriage. After marriage, the wedding and engagement rings are moved to the ring finger of the left hand, as in Western tradition.

Properly, in the Byzantine tradition, the ring (which is actually the sign of the betrothal, not the marriage) is worn on the right hand (as among Latins in certain European countries), but generally both Orthodox and Byzantine Catholics tend to follow the usual Western practice in the USA.

My “Betrothed” and I are both Byzantine Catholic and we recently had a Betrothal Ceremony. We both wear are rings on the right hand. In fact in the Betrothal Ceremony there are prayers stressing the right hand and the meaning of rings. Some Eastern Christians here in America have lost that tradition of wearing the rings on the right hand, not without good reasons though(custom here in America is the left hand showing marriage), as for us we wanted to have a little tradition in our Betrothal.
