At the risk sounding like I live in a cave, will someone be kind enough to explain to me what happened in Russia. I don’t usually watch the news, but last Sunday at Church our priest asked us to pray for those in Russia. I didn’t see anything in todays paper, but I caught the tail end of the news tonite, and it said something about a couple hundred of children being massacred!! Lord have Mercy!! Why? Who? I am stunned.:nope:

Are you serious? There was nothing in the paper? It made front page news for a few days here.

Some terrorists went into a school and staged a seige, taking a large number of people hostage. Originally the reports were that there were 400 people including about 150 children. Now it appears there were over 1000 people and hundreds of children.

They wired the place with explosives and detonated some bombs I think. They certainly shot a lot of people dead, the town is still burying the bodies. Hundreds are dead. More detail is coming out every day.

If there’s nothing about it in your local media, try some of the Australian newspapers: www.theage.com.au for example.

They certainly do need prayers.

Thank you, Phil. I am so sad!!:crying: I feel like I am having a flashback of 9/11. My heart is breaking for those poor families and the Russian Nation. I can’t belive I haven’t heard about this!! Other than my priest asking for prayers, NO ONE HAS SAID ANYTHING! I just don’t understand why it is so quiet here. It doesn’t make sense. Doesn’t anyone in my part of town care?

I am sorry for ranting, but I am shocked … and scared. They said it was terrorists? Like the same terrorists from 9/11? When will it stop!?

Lord have mercy on us, grant us your peace.

I don’t think it’s clear who it was. All but one of the perpetrators was killed during the ending of the seige. 31 hostage takers were killed and at least 335 hostages are dead too.

Well, I just asked my husband if he knew what happened and he said yes. When I asked him why he didn’t tell me he just shrugged and said, “I thought you knew.”

I guess I do live in a cave.

Thank you Phil, for taking the time to answer me and provide that link. I am overwhelmed … and so close to the anniversary of 9/11. I need to pray, for them and for myself. I feel unsafe again.

Jesus, I trust in you.

Islamic terrorists. They followed a plan right out of an Al Qaeda manual. This is the enemy President Bush has been talking about.

They were Chechens, right? (I’m not disputing that they were Muslims, but not all Muslims are terrorists.) These whackos also claimed responsibility for the recent suicide bombings of two Russian airplanes from Moscow- obviously both planes crashed, killing all on board. Makes sense that they would be training with Al Qaeda, the apparent leaders in airplane terrorism.

All Muslims are not terrorists but the great majority of cold-blooded terrorists are Muslims.

At least 1/3 of the school attackers were from Arab countries and not from Chechyna. This area has essentially been taken over by radical Islam and their practices reflect this.

Radical Islam is interested in world domination - numbers work for them - the more they kill or enslave of you, the greater the upper hand they have. This is why killing women and children is just as valid as killing men.

It is no surprise that Islam is common belief system of these terrorists. The Quaran is clear that if someone is a non-believer then they should be converted, enslaved, or killed. Any of the 3 suffice. Islam was spread by the sword from its very beginning.

The terrorists are not practicing something that is against Islamic teaching - they are going by the book. The moderate Muslims are like the cafeteria Catholics of their religion - they simply don’t take their religious teachings too seriously.

When I think of someone killing children in the name of God, I think insanity under the form of religious fanatiscm. I had no idea that the Muslims who didn’t embrace this concept of Jihad, were actually “cafeteria Muslims”, and those whom I formerly believed to be “fanatics” TRULY represent what the religion is. Can an entire religion be classified as insane?:ehh:

The Chechen rebel/Al Queda connection has long been an established fact.

It has been pointed out that this was not a random target. The explosives and other supplies needed to carry out this atrocity were sneaked into this school for months by people disguised as workmen. Such long term, patient planning is a hallmark of Al Quaeda. The city of 70,000 where this happened was overwhelmingly Christian (Russian Orthodox). Make no mistake: this attack was planned specifically against Christian children. Where is the outrage about that?

Jesus warned us of false prophets. Mohammed was probably the most influential false prophet ever. This is a spiritual situation at its core and can only be overtaken with much prayer and conversion of hearts to Jesus Christ. We must put away our moral vices and unite ourselves to God.

If a religion is false, it cannot be true - it may have some half-truths, but, in general it will be spiritual worship toward a deceitful spirit, not God - this is a breeding ground for spirits that are opposed to Christ.

I know this is unusual to hear but that is only because most of our churches have stopped talking about sin, evil, Satan, and the power of all 3, how we must reject sin and evil and not negotiate with it.

The Muslims that are good people in the U.S. (some are not so good obviously but some are) have been heavily influenced by the Christian based culture(laws, customs etc.) - as that culture turns more secular and rejects God, the faithful Muslims will gain more power and strength. Ahead of the curve is France - Muslims have great power there and are getting stronger. We must recognize what we are dealing with now or face disaster in 50 years or so.

The only answer long term, I believe, is mass evangelization of the Muslims. This is possible only if an there is an environment that allows it. Perhaps Iraq and Afghanistan will be the starting points.

I am about as outraged as I’ve been in a long time, which is why I believe we must recognize and talk directly about what we are dealing with and take appropriate action.

One thing we can all do is stop buying politically correct newspapers and watching politcally correct TV programs - I know this will take a huge custom shift in the United States but we must do it. Support of these media emboldens terrorists around the world and results in more children being tortured and killed.

THE MEDIA!!!:banghead:
I am sorry I have nothing of intelligence to add. I am just brokenhearted. I cannot imagine living in a world such as this … what just happened … the slaughter of the unborn … etc., without faith in God. A friend just confided in me tonite, that he believes his four year old daughter has been molested. Only a week after another friend confided in me the same thing about her five yr. old.:crying: I have to keep reminding myself that God looked at what He created and said it was good. Because I sure as heck am having a hard time seeing it. If not for God, where could we place our hope? I do not understand how an Athiest can be hopeful in a world such as this (not meant as a dig, I really don’t understand). Please, don’t feel as if you have to respond. This post is off topic, and I am just sad. Thanks for listening.

Oh, don’t worry. Just be vigiliant.

Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. If you believe in me, then you shall know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free” - free from worry, free from fear.

Take all these matters to Him. Remember, our life here is very short. We must stand for the Gospel and for life every breathing moment, but our eternal life goes on far beyond this life - for all of us, the children, rest-assured are in God’s protection.

Heaven’s ways are not the ways of this world. Keep your eyes on the prize.

Here is another link to another newspaper here. It’s an opinion piece that lists a few disturbing facts about the event, such as:

*'Consider: the terrorists who seized the school in Beslan refused to give their 1100 hostages water – not even children who after two days in stifling heat were unconscious from thirst. *

*Consider: one child, 10-year-old Stanislav Tsarakhov, said he’d seen a boy beg a terrorist for water, “but instead of giving him water he drove his bayonet through the boy’s body”. *

*Consider: when a teacher, Elza Viktorovna, pleaded for the terrorists to at least spare the children, she was asked, “Have you finished?”, and when she nodded was shot dead. *Consider: when the terrorists exploded into their final orgy of bloodletting, they shot in the back many children who tried to flee.’

I remember when the NY Times decided that whenever a terrorist said “Allah is Great!” they would print “God” instead of “Allah”. Why let the terrorists damage the reputation of only the Muslim god when they can damage the reputation of ours as well.
