I wonder what happened to this announced manual? Has it been published? I can’t find anything about it except for this article. It would be nice to read it and, God forgive me, give it to my parish priest as a Christmas gift, although it is a bit too late for gifts, but for respecting liturgy never.

Also, I found this, announcement of instructions about sacred music and architecture made by a new commission for music and architecture. This article is from 2011, something must have happened since then, but I just can’t find anything in the internet, so please help me with both. Thanks in advance

That manual was announced in January last year. The Vatican typically takes long time to bring such projects to fruition - I would normally say about 2-3 years for this sort of thing. However, shortly after that announcement, Pope Benedict resigned, so all work on the project immediately stopped for the interregnum. Pope Francis was elected, and the dicasteries went back to work, but he may have assigned new priorities, so the approach to this manual may have had to be rethought, or the project may have been shelved altogether. My guess would be that it will still show up, but like I said, probably not until 2015-2016.

Here is an article from November 2012:
The Congregation for Divine Worship and the Sacraments is establishing an office to promote the development and use of appropriate liturgical art, architecture and music.
The new office was approved in early September by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican secretary of state; final arrangements and the designation of personnel are being made, said Marist Father Anthony Ward, undersecretary of the congregation.
The office will provide advice, encouragement and guidance, he said, but it will not attempt to impose specific styles…
While the Pontifical Council for Culture promotes efforts in the area of sacred art and music, the congregation’s new office will focus specifically on art, architecture and music used for Mass and other formal moments of prayer.

That’s what I thought. Hopefully it’ll be sooner. Thank you very much.
