Usually the purificators are gathered up in my parish and placed in a basin of water to soak. There they soak until eventually they are removed and washed.
The water is poured into a designated spot into the ground set aside for this purpose.
Someday I would like to encourage the Knights of Columbus to raise money so we can put in a Sacrarium.
