What happens to unbaptized babies' souls?

Previously, the Church taught (during the sixties when I was a child) that the souls of unbaptised babies went to Purgatory. I understand that the teaching now is different - that they are received into Heaven. What happened to the souls of unbaptised babies who died before the teaching changed?
