If a husband and wife can not have children, would oral sex to climax then be ok?

Nope, because they would not be open to life if he climaxed anywhere but in the full marital embrace.

Christopher West is a wonderful Catholic author who has many books that focus on human sexuality in the context of Catholic morality. I recommend checking his works out!

Read Fox’s thread, “Masturbation, Infertility, and the Church.”
As explained there, it is unacceptable.
Oral sex to climax or outside the context of vaginal intercourse is otherwise known as a form of mutual masturbation, and is intrinsically evil, just like self-stimulation and masturbation without your spouse.

But if they cant have children how are they open to life?
Because of the possibility that somehow, in some miraculous way, it just might happen.

It comes down to intention.

Thanks for the (name removed by moderator)ut on this sensitive issue.

Frankly, I can see no connection to oral sex and the inability to have children. Oral sex used as the climax is not a consummation but a perversion no matter if a couple can have children or not.

We humans can not attempt to understand the will of the Father. We cannot discount that fact that He can work miracles that are beyond our understanding.

Please do not try and twist and turn things around to try and make them work for you. I understand that there is enjoyment in oral sex, mutual masturbation, and the such and that we (as humans) want that pleasure. And we will at times do and say what we can to justify it as being right or acceptable. Again, this leads us down the wrong path. We start to make excuses and make justifications to make us feel okay for doing something that is against the Church. Should looking at a naked female in playboy be okay since it is art and you are admiring the beauty of the female body? Please understand that oral sex before intercourse is fine, accepted by the Church, however, men must climax through vaginal intercourse. You do not want to end up like Onan (in Genesis).

I’ve got a spin on the original question.

What if, a couple could not have a child but kept trying anyways perhaps even knowing they couldn’t… But still tried?

Is that a sin?

In itself it could not be a sin…trying to have a child could never be a sin. And there are always miracles.

BUT, the couple* could* be sinning in other ways. If that becomes the main focus of their lives (and this applies to fertile couples too) and they ignore their other obligations and responsiblities then it could be sinful.

Lots of other factors could make the couple sinful in this situation, but the act of a married couple trying to conceive a child could not.
