I contacted what is my local Parish about RCIA and they started in July and I would have to wait until next year to do it but by next year I plan to be moved far from the area.

I live with my mother and I don’t have my own car so I borrow hers when I can. The Parish that covers my suburb is 15-20 minutes away in the car depending on traffic.

The area that I’m planning on moving to next year has a RCIA at their church and they said I can join on Monday (I haven’t met with them yet and they don’t know where i live) but this church is 30 minutes away (or 15min on the train) it’s much easier for me to get to on the train because I don’t have a car but because it’s not considered my local Parish will this be a problem?

I don’t think it is, but please call the Priest for that church and speak with him about your situation.

Welcome Home!

Shouldn’t matter, but I would just call the parish and ask. In most US diocese, one can attend any parish one wishes, with no geographical limitations.

Gemma, it shouldn’t be a problem at all. Just tell that Parish that you intend to move there next year and you would like to start with them.

I live just north of Sydney (diocese of Broken Bay which includes the Northshore and Northern Beaches of Sydney and the Central Coast) and no-one gets fussed if you attend a neighbouring parish for whatever reason.

All the best with your RCIA experiences, I’m sure you will get a lot out of it.

NO; BUT

Be sure that the parish your taking the classes in is the same Disease [same Bishop]. If not then it could be an issue. It would also be advisible to discuss this with your parish priest so that HE is in the loop too.🙂

Stay close to God so he can and WILL stay close to you.

God Bless,

 Autocorrect, by any chance?

My RCIA leader knows my location now because she had to give me directions to the meeting place, doesn’t seem to have a problem with location.

Thank you everyone for the responses 🙂
