God desires for us to respond to the all the gifts he has given to us: time, talent, treasure, bodies, reason by both returning the gifts to Him as well as His other children.

Is there room {or necessity???} for Obedience in your reply

It seems reasonable that humanity exist for a reason. {Isaiah 43: verses 7 & 21}

So what DOES God expect from us?

Does he have different expectations for Catholics?

For Christians?

For non-Christians?

When I read Ben Johnsons statement you refer to above I see obedience as an obvious underlying element to his suggested actions.

But as I {me personally} read your reply it seems to sorta avoid the question {I’m the OP}

What precisely does it mean to “walk humbly with your God?” Does that mean we MUST Obey Him?

As do I

BUT, does to “obey” somehow imply a right to pick and choose what will be obeyed. OR to “obey our God”; is a blanket statement to Know ALL that He teaches, that He desires and the He commands?

Ecclesiasticus 15:18
Before man is life and death, good and evil, that which he shall choose shall be given him

John 5:24
Amen, amen I say unto you, that he who heareth my word, and believeth him that sent me, hath life everlasting; and cometh not into judgment, but is passed from death to life.

Does the bile somewhere teach us that We, get to choose what we want to believe and practice?
