Now there are more google spiders and an ask Jeeves spider:eek: The plot thickens:bigyikes:

They are search engine spiders. People using Google and Ask Jeeves searching for something. Spiders are what do the actual looking on the internet. No need to fear.

AHHH! The google spiders will lay their eggs in the boards and slow them down!

I saw that too, but if I had to take a guess I think its when someone does a google or AJ search for something catholic and one of the links that the search brings back is to a forums.catholic-questions.org thread. In order for the search engine to pick up the key words that the person is looking for the search engine has to search the page, so instead of a human guest, it is really the search enging being a guest and bringing back what it found to the person. I think the reason why we see this is because Catholic.com system was recently updated with the latest technology and it is able to detect such actions and distinguish between guest and search engine.

If you dont like that then I would guess that a google spider is a spider with a google legs.
(a google is a number with 100 zeros behind it)

Talk about nightmares,
no horror movie could come as close to what was on PBS tonight. It was a look inside prisons, especially ones where mental cases were at. It was scary. These guys acted as if they were posessed or something, they way they would yell and react and stuff, very disturbing. If kids saw it they would have nightmares.

This is twice tonight I have laughed out loud. You just described my workplace. My office is right next to the four padded cells we use for the violent, suicidal and crazy inmate. Of all the things that to mention you could not have picked one that could phase me less.

I could have:eek: lived my whole life quite happily without :bigyikes: :bigyikes: that image in my mind…

how about a google cockroach. mice and spiders i can deal with, i don’t abide cockroaches.

A spider is a program that automatically fetches web pages and feeds them to search engines. (It’s called a “spider” because it crawls around the web.) Because most web pages contain links to and from other pages, a spider can start almost anywhere. As soon as it recognizes a link to another page, it goes off and fetches it. Large search engines have many spiders working simultaneously. Also known as a crawler.

not from human usage, these spiders gather info off the sites so that google and other directories and engines can index the information on them.
