What is a monastic shower?

I was asked what the term ‘monastic shower’ means. My assumption is that it’s a cold shower but I’ve no evidence for this. Anyone know?
 
I suspect it’s a cold uncomfortable shower. I have not heard the term but my in-laws used the word “military shower” to mean a cold shower and “monastic shower” seems like the same idea.
