I read on another thread that many people wear St. Benedict medals. I have also seen it on crucifixes. I have looked on the web to find information regarding this medal and so far have not been able to find anything. I’m sure someone out there in cyberland can answer this. Thanks.

Glory to Jesus Christ!

It is important that we remember Saint Benedict was a man of deep faith, known to have worked miracles in his lifetime. This was a great gift from God.

We also recognize in Benedict a link to the early Fathers of the Church and the monastic tradition that stretches deeply into our Christian past. Those were hard times, evil manifested itself everywhere and deep faith in God was necessary to persevere and carry the cross.

I urge you to read the Rule of Benedict, it is a very practical guide to living in community and yet has been so adaptable that many individuals and families over the centuries have been able to apply his Rule to their own circumstances and daily living. This then is the real genius of Benedict.

Walk in God’s ways.

Michael, that sinner

He is a useful saint in the fight against evil, like St. Michael the Archangel. You can use the medals or crucifxes to post on your doors and windows for spiritual protection.

I would agree with this since I wear one… except for the fact that my chain broke and I need a new one. The jubilee medal contains a prayer in Latin, too. Translated, I think it reads, “Begone Satan, tempt me not with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink your own poison!”

you also have to have it blessed by a priest using the prayers found in this website.

powerful prayers written in latin on the medal.

Crux sacra sit mihi lux! Nunquam draco sit mihi dux! (May the holy cross be my light! May the dragon never be my guide!).
V R S N S M V - S M Q L I V B are the initial letters, as mentioned above, of a Latin prayer of exorcism against Satan: Vade retro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana! Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas! (Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities! What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!)

.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think the medal is also used for exorcisms.
