I want to know, are we in Advent and what does it mean?

Yes we are, & it is the 4 weeks leading up to Christmas. Meaning -wise I can’t really do a good job at it but I assure you the AAA forum will give you good answers. You might also look at these sites that can be searched for that info.newadvent.com/

I’ve just returned from our school’s annual Advent service (Catholic school and all…). Advent is a time of preparation- a time for waiting, expectation and hopefulness at the coming of the Saviour.

The first two weeks are actually in preparedness for the Second coming of Christ at the end of time. The last two weeks are in preparation for Jesus’ birth as a baby…

The whole season of waiting is often indicated by hymns like “Oh come oh come Emmanuel”, or “The Angel Gabriel”… It’s not a time for impatience… 🙂 But reflection, contemplation, and preparing.

Yes, we now are in Advent. It is a time for preparation, for His coming. The time to make straight His path.

The entire history of the Jewish race (from the fall of Adam) was spent in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah. Advent is the season when we remember (in a particular way) this anticipation - and the preparation that goes along with it.
 
It is the 4 weeks preceeding Christmas, 4 weeks because it was about 4000 years from Adam and Eve until the birth of Jesus.

The 1st, 2nd, and 4th weeks are times of preparing oneself for the coming, the 3rd week is a time for joy knowing that our wait is almost over.
