Should every Catholic have it or have read it? Is it better/more thourough than the Catechism?

The Code of Canon Law (the 1983 Code being the one currently in force) is the detailed set of governing principles, ultimately promulgated and ratified by the Bishop of Rome, which is used as a framework for “running the Church” on a daily basis.

The Code serves a different purpose than the Catechism, and while most anyone would learn a great deal about the Catholic Faith by reading through it, such an effort would not be as important for your average Catholic to undertake as reading the Catechism, in my opinion. I’m not sure that every Catholic ought to have a printed copy of the Code, especially since it can be freely read on-line.

Of course, the Catechism can be freely read on-line too, but I do think every Catholic or Catholic household that can afford it ought to possess a written copy. 🙂

Did you know? If you read 8 numbered paragraphs per day from the Catechism, beginning with, #1, you will read the entire text in just under one calendar year (358 days).

My problem is I can’t keep a copy of the CCC at home, I’m constantly giving them away! Maybe I can get a subcrription…
