I am a pretty new Catholic and I am still learning about being a good Catholic. Any advise.
So being married and Army could count?Everyone has a vocation. Everyone is called to live a life of holiness. By virtue of Baptism, each and every Christian has a call to holiness through a life in Christ.
Thank you so much I don’t even know how to reply but thanks. You got it :yup: Welcome to the church!
To expound a little further - remember your wedding vows. You probably vowed to protect your spouse from all harm. God gave him/her to you. It is your responsibility to direct him/her and whatever children come from that relationship to God. What holier calling could you ask for? It is probably not going to be easy, but if you stay in sacramental communion with the church, God will give you the grace you need to see the mission through.
There is a similar call to holiness for the army. There are ideals of freedom and the defense of life that sometimes call people out of necessity to take up arms. A lot of times an army acts in a humanitarian aspect. Whether or not that’s good is debatable, but still, at least it’s an opportunity to serve others charitably. Jesus says there is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for your friends. As a soldier, you are faced with that distinct possibility on an imminent level. Done charitably, soldiering is very holy.
Finally, you are a human being and a Christian. You have a holy call to use your talents wisely to build up the kingdom of God. Start with yourself - cleanse your interior temple of all earthly desires and make it an acceptable dwelling of the Holy Spirit.
We are all called to be holy - pray for all of us that we can meet this call!
