What is free agency in Mormonism?

I once knew someone who is a Latter Day Saint and he said that Mormon believe in something called free agency.Is free agency like free will?.Thank you very much so for your time and answers,God bless.

Yes, basically it is like free will. Since there is another thread talking about “original sin” and the fall of Adam and Eve, then that ties to this subject because the LDS belief is that having agency and accountability mean that there needed to be the opportunities in our mortal world to choose good from evil, and thus be able to be held accountable to choose the right–also a knowledge of what those choices entailed, and of the consequences of wrong choices.

Mormons speak of the great importance of agency or free will choice with no force exerted on the person doing the choosing. A person choosing God and the keeping of His commandments out of love for God and for our fellow men, is on the right track with using their agency for their own happiness and the happiness of others around them.
