What is God’s purpose in waiting to send the devil and all his angels to hell? Why wait if He could have done it immediately?

You might want to check out the ‘eternal time’ thread here in Philosophy 🙂

Quick answer, God is not bound by time, so he’s done it, is doing it, and will always be doing it. It’s only from our point of view that things happen in sequence.

Is this your opinion? Your profile says your agnostic.

I do agree with that answer. However, this is where I’m coming from…

If the devil and demons are still running around, this would mean they are ruining things for souls today, and have been throughout history. If the devil had not done this, and would not continue doing this, would that result in a more positive outcome for the salvation of mankind?

God is not bound by time, but it appears demons are. If I am not mistaken, demons who were exorcised by Jesus pleaded not to be sent to hell before their time. (I will find the passage if necessary)

Eternal Time sounds like a good thread BTW… thanks for the suggestion.

I think to test us human beings, I think God The Most High wants to test each one of us whether we would follow him or we would follow evil, which brings me a question if we have a quota for our souls or not, I mean if God have a specific quota for our souls, and once we reach that quota, he would end our life here on earth and brings-up the judgement day.

I can believe that God desires to see if we would willingly follow good or evil.

I’m not sure what you mean by having a specific quota. Christians believe that God desires all people be saved and come to repentance.

And if I can piggyback on this question a little. Why is it always said that the devil does what he does only out of hate, but that he knows he lost? He has lost the ultimate war, but doesn’t he have the little victories of each one our souls that he can claim for eternity? So, while he is defeated in general, is it not true to say that he is not utterly defeated so long as he holds some of the souls of God’s most prized creations for all eternity?

I’m sure I’m missing something here, so what is it?

They also “roam about the world seeking the ruin of souls.”
Yes. There is no contradiction.
Are you speaking metaphorically or actually?
Actually. Demons have eternally cut themselves off from God, which is the definition of hell. Hell is a state of being rather than a pit of fire and pitchforks, and though it may have a spacial aspect, that part would be secondary. If it were a pit, it would be withstandable.
They are not actually in hell yet, just as those who are part of the elect on earth are not yet in heaven.
They’re also part of Earth, whereas the demons are disconnected from it.

Okay…

Out of curiosity, is there a place in the catechism or in Church documents that supports this position? Thanks.

They wield the most powerfull deceptions.
Deception triggered the dawn of time, when it has reached it’s most sublime expression again in man, it will trigger it’s end as well.
