Well sorry that I was mistaken about the first part. You never said that directly. But you did say Islam made more sense. I don’t see how you can make that claim in comparison to a religion you didn’t even know the teachings of.did i? are you sure about me saying that? if so, show me where…
how so? christian belief states that jesus died on the cross for the sins of all of mankind. does it not? if you say yes, this necessitates that the burden of mankind’s sins be put to rest upon the shoulders of jesus and taken off ours (or yours, which ever way you want to see it). now if you have some elaboration you want to share to show how this understanding is wrong, then by all means, feel free to share it here.
Yes, God died for the sins of all mankind. It didn’t say that was a free pass into heaven. We now have a chance at heaven, whereas the gates were once closed. But we are still free to choose whether to follow Jesus and accept that gift, or to reject him.
One thing I just realized is that I just assumed when you said you used to be “Christian” you meant Catholic. That was a baseless assumption on my part so I apologize. If it was a protestant church you were brought up in, I could very well see how you were taught the erroneous “free pass to heaven” doctrines.
