I’m sorry to ask this question, but for a while i’ve not really understood it, my mother is catholic but i got involved in a situation, and i just really want to know, what the basic belief is, my mother helps me, but i’d just like to ask on here.
 
Here are some recommendations to get you started:

For a basic definition of core beliefs of the Catholic faith I recommend the booklet Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth. Then, for more detailed knowledge, you may want to start with a simple book explaining Catholic beliefs, such as Exploring the Catholic Church.

For a bit more advanced study you will need a Bible and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Both are available for purchase (Bible, Catechism) or may be accessed free online (Bible, Catechism).

Finally, a great educational resource available online is CatechismClass.com.
