Then why did Aaron have to hold his arms up the story says? The power came from the box or Ark that was placed in certain positions. The things of God hide in darkness. So said Dionysius. Where the devil gets ya. God’s the real power behind any Magi. How did the Magi find jesus? Looking to the stars. Even the Essenes were expert astrologers. This all goes back to the beginning of this creation to Noah’s sons.

The incident in which Moses had to keep his arms raised was a sort of proto-sacrament, like the striking of the rock to bring forth water. In these cases the miraculous action was entirely by the action of God, but God chose to tie His action to a physical act which God commands a human being to perform. Such incidents anticipated the Incarnation, just as the true sacraments flow from the Incarnation. In this particular case there is the especially strong typology of the crucifixion in Moses holding out his arms, and a beautiful symbol of our relying on others in the help Aaron and Hur gave to Moses (on the surface at least; we could get rather creative and possibly more negative if we look for a typological significance related to the crucifixion).

The power associated with the Ark was also from God, and was also an anticipation of the Incarnation. In no case are we dealing with men who have learned to control occult powers.

God is indeed surrounded by darkness from our perspective. This is not a real darkness, but an apparent darkness due to the mysteriousness of God, particularly before we receive the Beatific Vision. In truth though God dwells in unapproachable light (cf. 1Timothy 6:16). The “darkness” which seems to stand between the Christian mystic and God is of an entirely different order than the darkness of lies and deception in which, as you say, “the devil gets ya.”

Occult to me simply means “Gods hidden powers or nature”. Not a scary movie of possession.

You say “occult” powers I call it “God’s hidden powers”. Paul talked about becoming like God which is God’s greatest wish for us. Our essence becomes that of all things and we become the primary mover and are unmoved by anything else. Call it God’s power, occult power, I prefer God’s power through man. Teaching fear just turns me off. Our biggest problem is overcoming this selfish nature of ours. We’re our own worst enemy. “Lies and deception” you say where’s the big lies and deception coming from? I am familiar with some occult things to and I’ve never seen anything but misuderstandings or lies concerning it. I have been for example “ghost hunting” before and no it’s not the devil or a demon. People know much more what they’re doing than that. The misplaced human and a demon are completely different signatures. Are demons dangerous. It depends on what you run into. They can be quite dangerous. If you don’t know what your doing you shouldn’t play the game. Do you tear down an engine if you’re not a mechanic? Better off leaving it alone. The things I’ve said I’m not making up. And there’s alot more. But I’ll stop here

AGAIN, when someone shows up on this thread or in the Forum who has read the Zohar and knows what they are referring to, then I could commnet further: otherwise, it is pointless.

From the Oral Tradition and written in the Zohar, the Kabbalah is the only authentic source for being a Jew (and I was told that we cannot be good Catholics without being good Jews: as Jesus was …)

You will not know what that means until you and read the Zohar.

A lot of what I have said especially the “occultism” terms I don’t want to specifically link to the zohar. That’s more inside knowledge. I’m not quite sure why the church likes to talk about things it knows little or nothing about. Kind of like someone outside the church knows all about it and says we worship Mary. The church is for morals and faith. A Chabad house would know most about kabbalah.
