Hello all,
I was baptized, chrismated and raised Russian Orthodox but I have recently become Greek Catholic. I’m having a bit of difficulty though because when I was baptized I was given the name Maximos with “St.” Maxim of Galica as patron…the issue is, he was killed for refusing to be Greek Catholic and working instead for the Russian state church during world war 1 (in Austria Hungary). I can hardly venerate him, so who is my patron? Is it possible to take a new patron after baptism? I have a veneration for St. Maximos the Confessor, particularly because his writing was influential in accepting Catholicism, but he isn’t my baptismal patron…
