What is Natural Law?

Hello Father,

I’m in a philosophy class and was asked to do a paper on Natural Law from the Catholic perspective. Can you point me to offical Catholic information on Natural Law as well as respond with a description. I need general information and information relating to abortion and homosexuality. I’m only one of two Catholics in the class so to be able to come up with solid information would be a big help.

Dear R,

We don’t need civil law to tell us that murder and stealing are wrong. There is within the human psyche an awareness that such behavior is wrong. This is true regarding incest, abortion, adultery, homosexual behavior and a number of other examples that some in our society try to ignore.
