Hi, I come from a Protestant family and am looking into Catholicism, and possibly becoming a Catholic; however, my father and I have discussed differences in how one is saved in a Catholic and a Protestant church. Why are the sacraments of (water) Baptism and Reconciliation (through a priest) necessary for salvation? I have nothing against going to confession, but why can’t I pray to God and directly ask him for forgiveness? Why is baptism with water necessary to be saved; isn’t it most important to be spiritually baptized? I am also concerned that one little thing I didn’t do will “un-save” me. Thank you for your time!
