What is Phenomenology?

Well people act as if it is a new field of philosophy and its not. What modern idea did John Paul II get from it that he incorporated into his written works?

What is the hang up with newness here? I never brought it up.
What if it was an old idea within phenomenology that inspired his writing?

Phenomenology is not really a precise theory of consciousness. Husserl himself started the confusion about it when he advanced some contradictions in his own work. It has morphed into so many different versions that, like Buddhism, it is hopeless to pin down what it really is about.

Using new words gives impetus to the mind, making something exciting. Anthropology is just psychology, biology, historical and contemporary sociology put into one. Phenomenological anthropology? Uhhh… That’s just a madeup thing, although it includes certain favorite phrases.

I read something today that said “Disciplined study of the human race has been taking place since the Renaissance.” Wrong. It’s been going on since ancient times. What do you think Aristotle’s ethics was about, elephants?
