What is success? From a child’s view is it making your parents proud? Is it getting a high grade? Is it making other proud and envy you?

For me no its not that, for me success is getting proud of myself. I find it hard to be proud of myself I sometimes hate myself and even when I get a high grade like a 95 I’m still not proud of me even when everyone else praise me I feel hallow inside, its hard to make me proud of me so in my perspective its being proud of me.

What is your perspective of success?

I think success is being at peace within - not peace in the sense of a good mood, or content 24/7, just that you know you are on the right path. This can be quite hard, right, which is why I emphasize peace within/of Christ, not outward peace or ‘ease’. I feel failure when I lose that as a priority, so doing it would be success. Right path for me involves faith, commitment , witness to Christ, but also realizing your human potential in both the large (life mission) sense and small everyday obligations, rewards, joys, experiences with others. I don’t think success necessarily matches outward or world accomplishments/status - I have realized this when talking to so many people, comparing their responses on this question; many successful people seem to still feel a lack of something; unsuccessful people can be amazingly well adjusted, happy. It’s a life lived well in the eyes of God, lived to the fullest.

Shaving in the morning and, looking in the mirror, being happy with myself for the way I treat myself and others, and content to run the razor up and down my throat, rather than across it.
