When it comes to evangelization, you often hear that we need to spread the “good news” and share the gospel (good news), but I don’t often hear what the main content of the “good news” is.

It also seems to me that the “good news” in a nutshell is that there is a God, he loves us, and he has come to save us through his son Jesus Christ. But before we can share the good news, people need to be convinced of the bad news. What is the bad news? What do we need saved from? Or is there more to the good news that needs to be stated?

How do you go about evangelizing in today’s world? I often hear the quote that is attributed to St. Francis, something like “preach the gospel always, and use words when necessary”, but what are those words? And when do they become necessary?

I think the bad news is that we are separated from God our Maker and are nothing like He intended us to be. We need to be saved from our fallen state.

The Good news, like you said, is that we can have a real relationship to God through his Son and can fully know and experience God’s love for us. We can become all that he intended and we can live eternally with Him.

I agree that we do preach by our actions, and as the saying goes, ‘actions speak louder than words.’ If we act with love, walk in the Holy Spirit and ask him to guide us, then others will notice and if they ask, we need to ‘Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.’ (I Peter 3:15).

Maybe this is simplistic, but God wants everyone to understand and come to him. He desires everyone to be with him.

The bad news is that we are all sinners, and will be held accountable in the next world for our wrongful thoughts, words, and actions.

To be honest, I think it is a cop-out when we say, “Just live a good life and others will be convinced by this.” That’s not enough. We should actively spread the goods news through words, as well as our actions. This is what Jesus and the apostles did.

I am waiting for effective Catholic evangelism tools for talking with the man on the street (something other than recommending a book they should read). Until then, I think this protestant ministry has a good approach for helping people to understand their need for God’s forgiveness.

The bad news is hell and the good news is heaven.

But…it can’t always be presented that way so bluntly.

I believe knowing Jesus and his life is the real way to present it.
Either expressed in loving terms in our words or in our life, whatever the situation calls for.

There are people out there who do not know who Jesus is, or who really haven’t heard of him except read his name on a telephone pole or a bridge.
I think more needs to be done door to door.

There are also our own lost lambs out there who need someone to knock and politely ask them to come back to Jesus. They are waiting for someone to ask because they themselves don’t have the courage but would like to.

May God our Father give you grace and peace.

The bad news is not knowing the good news… If you catch my drift.

“The Good News shows how God makes people right with himself — that it begins and ends with faith.” -Romans 1:17

“Jesus Christ is Lord.” Philippians 2:11.
This is the “Good news”

God Bless!

My friend:)

Think about this:

There is BUT One true God [and we mostly agree on this]

One True God [Good and perfect] can and DOES have ONLY one set of Faith beliefs
BUT there are thousands of variants within Christianity [that’s the hard part]

And the FACT [historical and biblical] that it is today’s CC does not seem to be a concern; many even seem unaware of it>

Despite the clarity of the Teaching:

Mt. 16:18-19 " And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this [YOU-Peter] rock I will build my church,[SINGULAR] and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. [YOU ALONE!] And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven".

Eph. 4:3-8 " With all humility and mildness, with patience, supporting one another in charity. Careful to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. One body and one Spirit[means only One Church and One Faith]; as you are called in one hope of your calling. One Lord, one faith,Means only one set of beliefs] one baptism. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in us all. But to every one of us is given grace, according to the measure of the giving of Christ."

The bad-news is that ONLY GOD can make right understanding possible.🤷 But its also the GOOD news, because he does!🙂

So we MUST:
Know WELL our Faith beliefs and practices
Live them fully and publicly
Share them when ever God gives to US the opportunity to do so
Defend them when necessary

God Bless you!

The bad news is that there is no good and loving and trustworthy God; there is no hope, no afterlife, no meaning and purpose to life, no Good Shepard; we’re not even lost, because there is no real home to go to.

"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors…" 1 Pet 1:18
