Vocal prayer?
Mental prayer?

Reading bible?
Blessed sacrament adoration?

How can I make best use of my bedtime, ?suppose I have one hour to spend with God each evening

I don’t know,but I fall asleep praying the Rosary 🙂
Often if there’s a worry I wake up in the night and repeat.Sometimes I fall asleep with my arms crossed in prayer if silly thoughts are trying to come at me.

I turn to Jesus or whoever I want with very short sentences, traditional ("Jesus, I trust in You) or invented by me, changing them when I feel like it.

When I’m tired I stop for a while and start again later.

The question is subjective and you’re not likely to get a definitive answer, as everyone has their own opinion on what’s the best thing to do before bed.

Perhaps a better question to ask is what would you prefer to do before bed? What is convenient and easy for you? Do you have a lamp to read by and a night-table where you can place your Bible after you finish reading it before going to sleep? Do you prefer mental or vocal prayer? Is there someone rooming with you who would be annoyed by vocal prayer?

These are some questions to consider, and ultimately it falls to you. Personally I don’t find bedtime to be convenient for Bible reading or praying the Rosary as I prefer to study and meditate carefully, so I make do with mental prayer. Others, and yourself, are free to figure out their own bedtime routines.

For me, it helps me sleep when I put away my smart device, turn off the TV, and thank God for my many blessings. It is then easier for me to drift off to sleep.

Oh yes, and putting on my CPAP helps, too.

I’ve found that the man using the smart device isn’t as smart as he thinks he is.

I would be envious of anyone who has this opportunity at bedtime. For me, the nearest place is 5-10 minutes away and cuts off visitors early evening.

The best thing to do is whatever will let you get the peaceful rest your body needs and the rest in God that your soul needs.

Many find the Examen to be a good way to end the day.

After examination of conscience, 3 Hail Marys.
With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin
above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, Daughter of the Eternal Father, and I consecrate to Thee my soul with all its faculties.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with Thee! Blessed art Thou among women and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

By thy holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure and my soul holy; preserve me this night from mortal sin.

With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, beloved Mother of the Son of God, and I consecrate to Thee my body with all its senses.

HAIL MARY

By thy holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure and my soul holy; preserve me this night from mortal sin.

With all my heart I praise Thee, Most Holy Virgin above all Angels and Saints in Paradise, beloved Spouse of the Holy Ghost, and I consecrate to Thee my heart with all its affections, and beseech Thee to obtain for me from the Most Holy Trinity all the graces necessary for salvation.

HAIL MARY

By thy holy and Immaculate Conception, O Mary, make my body pure and my soul holy; preserve me this night from mortal sin.
PRACTICE: Recite morning and evening the Consecration and Three Hail Marys in honor of the three great privileges of Mary.

All of the above are excellent, but whatever it is you do, shortly before bed is an ideal time to do an examination of conscience.

Peace.

Examination of conscience and act of contrition and showing gratitude to God. And maybe a few minutes of mental prayer

Pray Compline in the Ordinary Form - since most people are not conversant in Latin.

I fall asleep praying the rosary too.

I get ready for bed…wash my face, floss, brush my teeth, brush my hair, put moisturizer on my face, change into my night gown and robe…hug my husband…climb into bed…say a “examen”, pray a night prayer, turn out the light, prayer an “Our Father”, then “thank” God for everything in my life and ask for “forgiveness” for all my sins… 😌

Hi!
I used to have (and still do, admittedly) great difficulties in praying before sleep, but that changed for me (through the grace of the Lord) when I read a book that said the best practice is to do an examination of conscience and act of contrition before bed. Highly recommend it, gives me such a sense of peace.
