Waht do you think from experience is the best way nowadays to wake people up to Jesus, his Church and the eternal consequences of it.

it defers on who you want to preach to. to anxious atheist (like my classmates) it maybe better to let them know prayers first. and to muslims is different than to joshua witness etc

I didn’t vote…because I think it should be a combination of all of those (with the exception of ‘fine the way things are’)…plus, I would add, that all Catholics should live up to their potential as Christians and get serious with their faith. If every Catholic, around the world, lived a godly Christ-centred, Eucharist-empowered, faithful to the Magisterium life…it would be a very different world. There is NOTHING the Spirit can not do through the Church when we are open to His leading.

“Preach the Gospel always, when necessary use words”
St. Francis of Assisi

Joe and Jane Catholic must learn their faith and live it openly, joyfully, and unabashedly.

This will include Catholic schools, (primary, secondary, and post secondary) being faithful to the Church.

My parish priest told me, “If every Catholic practised the faith the way they are supposed to, then the whole world would be converted within 2 generations”.

The quote above which simply says, “love”. is very good.http://forums.catholic-questions.org/images/icons/icon14.gif
Tradition tells us that people would often ask St John the Apostle what was the one , most important bit of advice he could give them. And he would say, " Little children, love one another"
Does that not sum up how we should live.

If all Christians start acting like they believe in Jesus Christ and his plea “If you love me you will keep my commandments.” we could convert the whole world in a week.

There would be no need for sermons, if our lives were shining; there would be no need for words, if we bore witness with our deeds. There would be no pagans, if we were true Christians.
St. John Chrysostom

All but the last one!

St. Francis’ oft-quoted: “Preach always. Sometimes use words” Still great advice with room for originality.

I believe options 1 - 5 are all equally valid options for spreading the Good News. The last one is simply unacceptable.

As has always been the case, the best “advertising” is word of mouth. In our case that means living out our faith moment by moment & fearlessly spreading the truths of Catholisim as the REAL NT Christianity. we have a wealth of great resources now, not the least of which is this very site & the tracts they have.
I am always aware that talk is cheap, so I do my best to live for Christ & not do anything to disgrace the Gospel. Consecration to the Immaculata helps a lot too. Totus tuus!

I have to add my voice to those recalling the wise words of St. Francis.

The world being what it is today, I think that most times words get in the way of preaching the gospel.

Perhaps it is worth considering the negative of the original Poll:

That is - “What would be the best way to turn people off of Jesus and keep God’s kingdom from coming.”

I think there is nothing happening in the world today that keeps people from turning to Jesus more than the actions of those who call themselves followers of Jesus but who do not live Christ-like lives.

All of those different ways need to be done at the same time.

I believe St Francis’ words were good for his time, when everyone in Europe was Catholic and therefore there was little confusion about the “True Church.”

Today it is different, we must now Evangelise Always (Actions and virtous living very important) and “Always” use words to distinguish us and point to the One Holy CATHOLIC and Apostiolic Church.

Otherwise people may see virtuos behaviour and think it is simply good "Protestant behaviour " - if they know no better and do not have their ignorance enlightened.

When asked it should come down to simple statments such as

“I do this because I am a true follower of Jesus Christ through the only Church he founded - The Catholic Church. Amen If you do not believe me, check out these facts on www.catholic.com!”

Entertaining movies like Passion is a good way (approved by Pope). IHS Daryl

Respectfully-

I remain convinced that the example of viruous behavior (truly virtuous behavior) is more important than the name of the church we are a part of, or even the name of Jesus. I know many of the Apostles spoke of the great importance of the name of Jesus, as they also spoke of the importance of virtuous behavior.

What did Jesus himself say?

:“Those who cry out ‘Lord, Lord’ will not be granted a place in God’s kingdom, rather those who do the will of my Heavenly Father.”

: “A tree is known by its fruit.”

: “A good man brings forth good from his store of goodness.”

We are also given advice about when not to use words or when to stop using words

:“Do not set your pearls before swine, they will only trample them and attack you.”

and also

:"Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say,

‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.’ Yet know this: the kingdom of God is at hand."

Jesus wouldn’t have us waste words with those not disposed to receive them. But always we are called to live a holy life.

For the record, I believe no one has a better chance, more opportunity for grace and encouragement and guidance for living life close to God’s kingdom, than a Christian brought up in the Catholic Church. We will not be able to recreate that for another person simply by saying, “The Catholic Church is the one true Church”

Personal example - especially holiness of life.

Arguments can be countered with other arguments - but holiness is its own best argument. Best of all, people who really are holy won’t even be aware of it - but that will not make their witness to Christ any less real or effective; far from it. ##

Ahh, yes…holiness of life! That says it all.

Pray always; your life will be your words.

Your point is noted, but you missed mine, I first of all stressed that example and virtue are very important, however nowadays with 33,000 different protestant sects, it would be most uncharitable to act well and remain silent, leaving no one the wiser that there is One, Holy , Catholic and Apostolic Church and letting them find the truth with no assistance. You would be culpable, Ezekiel 3.16.
