I want to know if this is compatible with Catholic Christian teaching or philosophy.

I’ve honestly don’t know much about what it is about. Due to my OCD nature, I will avoid searching too deep in it.

So for those who do know what its about…is it accepted by the church?

If my understanding is correct, Delayed Choice Quantum Eraser is a scientific experiment that may show that scientists can change the behavior of some things in the past by measuring them in the present. Unless I’ve misunderstood something, scientists are still debating about whether the experiment actually shows that or not.

If my understanding is correct, this experiment does not contradict Catholic doctrine. It does not appear to violate an ethical rule, and I’m not aware of any Catholic doctrine that says that nothing in the past can change.

Please let me know if that is helpful.

Bump.

I’d never heard of this before. I’ll wait and see what is said.

This is part of the well known dual wave / particle behavior of light. It is morally neutral and hence not addressed by The Church.

After thinking about it now, I think the word “determine” is more appropriate than “change” in this context.

What are some of the things that can be changed?

Are they talking about world events like “They changed the past to make sure WWII never happend” ?

Kind of like Marty McFly. Its funny, but this is actually a serious question.

Universe is conscious as this and Wheeler’s delayed choice experiment show.

In my previous post I corrected the word “change” to the word “determine.” My limited understanding of this is proving very limited.

I don’t think they are talking about determining things like whether WWII happened. If my understanding is correct, some scientists think the Delayed Choice experiment determines whether the light released by the Sun during World War II traveled in wave form or particle form, with the idea being that the light hadn’t determined what form it was traveling in until it was measured in the present. And like I said before, other scientists don’t think the experiments are actually determining that.

Does that make sense?

Ok.

Another youtube video best explains delayed choice quantum eraser.

What causes collapse is knowledge and knowledge requires a knower.
The moment at which you can throw away one possibility and keep only the other is when you finally become conscious of the fact that the experiment has given one result…You see, the quantum mechanical description is in terms of knowledge, and knowledge requires somebody who knows. ~Sir Rudolf Peierls
