What is the Catholic understanding of the inspiration of Scripture?

I am an Anglican and will be converting to the Roman Catholic Church in a few months. The area I seem to be in disagreement is with the neo-orthodox, higher critical approach to the authorship of the Old Testament, particularly with the JEDP theory of authorship of the Pentateuch. Do Catholics not believe that Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible? Are incidents like the Great Flood considered by Rome to be myths or just good stories or does the Magisterium teach it actually happened? I have a real problem with these views.
