My Brother is dating a girl who has been on birth control since the age of 15, she is currently 25. Her reasoning behind taking the pill is because she was prescribed it for medical reasons ie. cramping, heavy bleeding , and pain. She has expressed that she is not sexually active, and is waiting until marriage. She wants children when she is married, and plans to discontinue the use of the pill when she is married. She has also stated that she is worried that discontinuing the use of the pill will cause her to become sick again, thus compromising her to lead a somewhat normal life. My Brother is concerned because he has been taught that it is wrong to use any form of birth control regardless of the reasoning behind it. Please clarify the Catholic churches standings on this particular situation.

Thank You,

Worried Sister
