What is the Church's stand on alcoholics taking the blood of Christ?

I am an alcohol and drug counselor and have always told my patients not to take the blood of Christ, that taking the body of Christ is sufficient as this is what was taught to me. Am I correct? What is the church’s stand on taking the blood of Christ is someone is an alcoholic (parishoner not the priest). Thank you
