I am not sure how to explain, but here goes: I feel as my family has had an incredible amount of “bad luck”. It feels as if someone close to me is always sick or dying, making the earthly life very difficult for me. I have so much to be grateful for, but there seems to be a cloud over us. Once we recover from one thing, for instance, a very serious illness with my mother, we find out my 3 month old nephew has a brain tumor. I almost feel as if satan is testing us or someone has cursed my family. I’m not sure how much more we can take. I just so not know what to do other than practice my faith and pray for stength to take God’s plan as he gives it

Well, talk to a priest about it, openly.

Ask for a home blessing. Ask for a family blessing.

Consecrate the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Increase prayer life and access to the Sacraments.

Some of that may help 🙂

We don’t like to attribute trials to “curses”…but the spirit against Christ sometimes does strike harsher due to human intervention, be it our individual sins (temporal punishment) or someone else’s hatred… But if Christ allows it, we should be willing to bear it as a cross. We don’t want the cross, but when we receive it we embrace it - it is our vocation. We can pray for mercy, for it to go away or be easier to bear, but it is Christ who decides.

Wow what an awesome answer! Kind of wondered about these things too.

Thank you for your reply. My sister had my nephew in Hobby Lobby, and a woman came up to her and asked what was wrong with him (he has scars from brain surgery) and she put her hand on him and said “satan, I command you to take your hands off this baby”. I was taken back a little because I always thought that we are not supposed to talk to satan.
That got me thinking that it isn’t just my nephew, we have a lot of cancer/health issues in my family. I will continue for this to be easier for us.
