What is the consequence of Suicide

Shri Ramanath asked about the consequences of the suicide.

Swami replied “As I told you, the human life is almost impossible. The Christianity and Islam do not agree re-human birth. In Hinduism the re-human birth is admitted but it is said to be very rare. When the same God is the speaker of all the religions, there cannot be contradiction. Therefore, this means the re-human birth is generally impossible. But the omnipotent God can sanction the re-human birth to a soul if there is a hope of its upliftment. The human birth is meant for the human being having interest in spiritual knowledge. It does not mean mere human form.

Eating, sleep, emotions related to the environment and sex to produce children are common to both human beings and animals (Ahara Nidra Bhaya Mithunani…). The human birth with spiritual knowledge and coming in contact with the human incarnation happens only once. Such a human birth is called as Brahmana. Here this word is not at all related to the present caste system. The Brahmana means the human being belonging to any caste having full interest in the spiritual field and comes in contact with the human form of the Lord with faith so that he attains the perfect spiritual knowledge (Brahma Jnanam). If such chance is missed, he will be born as Kshatriya who believes only in his effort and efficiency with full egoism.

The next birth is Vysya having over attachment to wealth. The next birth is Sudra who is always selfish. The next birth is fisherman (Ganga putra) in which he kills the fish in the water. The next birth is hunter (vyadha) who kills the animals in the forest. The last birth of human form is Chandala who kills even the animals that served him. Thus, the soul descends by seven births and finally enters the cycle of animals, birds , worms etc.

The soul existing as Brahmana will never commit suicide. The souls of other levels only commit suicides due to problems in the world. The Brahmana will never commit suicide because he is well aware of the main divine aim of the human life. Even if the soul of other types is alive there is very little chance of its upliftment. Veda says that by committing suicide the soul enters the world of permanent darkness which means ignorance (asuryanaamate…). This means that the soul directly enters the cycle of animals etc., on committing suicide. Thus there is only one chance of the birth of Brahmana for a soul, which means that there is only one chance for any soul to have the real fruitful human birth in which it can meet the human incarnation.

In the other births the soul has only a very tiny trace of chance to meet and recognize the human form of the Lord in true spirit. All ready when the possibility of the upliftment of self is a trace only, if suicide is committed, it looses that trace of chance also. Thus, one in seven persons can only recognize the human form of the God in the right spirit of the upliftment of the self. The other human beings do not recognize at all and even if they recognize, they try to use the Lord for the worldly matters only.

The real suicide is that when the soul is not trying for its spiritual upliftment and always is dragged by the worldly affairs only. Such a soul will become a lizard which is always watching for an insect to eat. All its concentration is on the insect only. Gopikas jumped into fire after hearing the death of Krishna. But it is not suicide, because they have realized the main aim of the human life, which is the Lord only. What is the use of a soul always immersed in worldly affairs and worldly bonds only? Such a soul has really committed suicide already because the soul killed itself (Naatmaana mavasadayet-Gita).

When the sage Sanatsujata came to Dhrutarashtra, Dhrutarashtra asked him about the death. Then the sage told that the real death is that by which the soul forgets God and is completely immersed in the world (Pramadakhyo Mrurtyuh). Thus, the soul which leaves without any contact with God is already a dead soul, which committed suicide. Gopikas are immortal even though they have committed suicide since they sacrificed their lives for the love of God. This gross body is just like a shirt according to Gita (Vasamsi Jirnani…). Therefore, committing suicide is not a big thing for a realized soul. It is just like changing the cloth. But the purpose for which the suicide is committed is very very important. If the purpose is due to any worldly matter, the soul is thrown in to the permanent hell. The reason for this is that the soul has to detach from the world and attach itself to God.

Instead of doing this, the soul is disturbed due to over attachment to the world and is committing suicide. In the memory of Krishna, Radha became mad and wandered in the Brindavanam without food and water. She finally died in the madness of Krishna. That is suicide due to over attachment to God, but the consequence of such sacrifice of life is divine and has immortal fruit.

Jesus also sacrificed His life for the sake of God. He said that if one does not carry on his own cross for the sake of God, he cannot be the dearest devotee of God. Gita says that a real devotee will even give up the life for the sake of God (Matgata Pranah….). Therefore, the consequence of suicide for any worldly matter is only the permanent hell. When Meera was given poison, she swallowed it and was saved by the Lord. Hanuman tore His heart with His own nails to show Lord in His heart. All these cases of attempt of suicide but have immense spiritual value. Dhrutarashtra lived hundred and twenty years but he has already committed suicide, even though he was alive, because he did not listen to the advice of Lord Krishna even in the worldly matter.

Here’s the Catechism’s teachings on Suicide. A lot of people used to think that you were just toast, and sadly some still do, but I rejoice in the compassionate teaching fo Christ’s own church. It’s very important to read this very carefully.
2281 Suicide contradicts the natural inclination of the human being to preserve and perpetuate his life. It is gravely contrary to the just love of self. It likewise offends love of neighbor because it unjustly breaks the ties of solidarity with family, nation, and other human societies to which we continue to have obligations. Suicide is contrary to love for the living God.
2325 Suicide is seriously contrary to justice, hope, and charity. It is forbidden by the fifth commandment.
2282 If suicide is committed with the intention of setting an example, especially to the young, it also takes on the gravity of scandal. Voluntary co-operation in suicide is contrary to the moral law.
Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide.
2283 We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives.
Essentially the teaching of the Catholic Church is that suicide is a sin, but since most of them are the result of mental illness, which is not the person’s fault, that sin is mitigated. In essence the concept is that we do not know what goes on in the soul of one so depressed, especially in those last moments of life, so we cannot be sure, but there is reason for great hope. That’s why this passage from 2nd Machabees 12:46 is so great. **It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. **

Pax vobiscum,

Thank you for the reply;

This human life is very rare. Next human birth is still rare. The ignorance of real aim of the life leads to thoughts of suicide due to tensions created in this unreal drama. Will any body kill himself or herself really on the stage while acting a drama? Is he or she not a fool? Is he or she not mad? Suppose a student is defeated in cricket game and commits suicide. Is he or she not mad? Suppose a student is defeated in cricket game and commits suicide. Is he not a fool? The game itself is a side activity meant for a change. This worldly life is just a side activity and one should not get even tension in this worldly life, not to speak of suicide!

Divine love will not have Radha to wander in the Bridavanam without food and water to her death. Her love for Krishna is an adulterous love, therefore it leads to her madness and death.

I found in this website

dollsofindia.com/mirabai.htm

Mirabai’s Song about her love for Krishna mentioned that “the dark one stained her love”. But the Bible say:

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is LIGHT; in him there is NO darkness AT ALL. (1John 1:5)

Divine love should not stain anyone with “the dark one”, but the one of “Great Light”

Many religions have captured God’s qualities, and name them “gods” but it does not mean these qualities really accurately discribe God. The problem is, half truth is not the truth yet. Because God is truth, He does not mix with untruthfulness. This is the reason why there should not be any stain of “the dark one” in Divine Love.

I have just read some Hindu articles last night. I am no Hindu expert. But I can follow your posts based on my understanding of God’s Word in the Bible.
Jesus lay down His life because He does not want to lie : If ony He said that He wasn’t the son of God, He lied, for He was and is the son of God. The choice of proclaiming the truth was HIS. But those people who chose to kill Him was not of His will. Thus His will is not to die, but to proclaim the truth. Jesus did not commit suicide.

It is a subtle difference to discern.

Some martyrs of the church died because they were killed. But to die was not their choice. Their choice was to proclaim their faith in God. The killers who CHOSE to kill them were not of God’s will. Thus these martyrs of God are different than those who choose to die in suicide bombs, for example.

Because The Truth does not mix with untruthfulness, neither Light mix with darkness, neither Life with death. They are totally separated and forever in opposition.

The Truth wills life and goodness and love and LIGHT. Darkness wills hatred, death, no-goodness, hiding places, confusions, uncertainty, untruth. Because the opposite of wills they have they cannot be mixed together.

Because The Truth always truthful, therefore it has to be faithful. But an adulterous nature of Krishna and Radha relationship betrays their partners thus theirs are not always truthful, and so the teachings derived from their love story are not always truthful, thus not the truth.

Concept of death and Jesus on the cross
Therefore, the concept of death is the most sacred spiritual preacher, which preaches about the non-eternal bonds with your relations and related things in this world. Thus, death is the most pious concept and one should not fear for it.
The most sacred preacher should not be “the concept of death” but “the concept of eternal life”. We should not fear death of our present body, yes, but we should fear death as in “eternal death” which is the opposite of “eternal life”.
Therefore, the concept of death is the most sacred spiritual preacher, which preaches about the non-eternal bonds with your relations and related things in this world. Thus, death is the most pious concept …

Thus, when you are worshiping the idols, the concepts for which the idols stand should be realised. The constant attention on the idol is also necessary so that the concept is memorised again and again. It is for this purpose, the idol worship is introduced. Therefore, one should not mock at the idol worship. Christians wear cross with Jesus on it in the chain around the neck. The church also shows the same. Such photos are in the houses. All this is the idol worship. I do not know why they criticize the idol worship and follow the same in practice.
We believe that the cross is the image of the real God who chose to proclaim the truth at the cost of His death that He paid in full, and yet He (who is life) won, and therefore resurrected.

The difference with idol worship is, we insist, that “other images” than “God’s image” represented in “Jesus” are not the image of God. Thus to worship an idol is to worship untrue god.
The Christian scriptures criticize the idol worship. The point in such criticism is that mere worship of idols without realizing the concepts for which those idols were created is useless. From this angle idol worship is to be criticized. Thus, you have both positive and negative angles for any point based on the context.
What we believe about Idol worship is a worship to untrue God. Because Jesus is the image of the true God, therefore to worship Him is a must, and is not idol worship.

Idols are made to represent “gods” according to what we understrand about God’s qualities. But our understanding can be mixed with some confusions because our capability to understand God is limited. Thus the images of Idols made by human hands based on our own understanding of God’s qualities may get lost in man’s own way of thinking.

For this, Jesus need to come to tell us about the truth. The truth is not a mere cognitive knowledge, but God who become flesh. In this way God define Himself so we can understand Him. This man Jesus is God’s TRUE image, and is not an Idol of our own idea about God. Instead God who proclaim Who HE IS. So the news comes from Him, not from our own idea about Him.
Thus, we know the concept of death but we have not realized it. Therefore, we do not remember the concept. Our continuous impression is only about the life, which we are constantly experiencing. Hence, our feeling was that we lived in the past, we are living in the present and we will live forever in the future. Due to this we feel that these bonds are eternal and that this world is also eternal. It is said that spiritual knowledge is to be obtained from Lord Siva (Jnanam Mahesvarat…). Lord Siva is famous for destroying the world.
If Lord Siva is the destroyer of the world, and therefore is the centre of the concept of death, then how can he help us to cut ourselves from bonding with the world for “eternal life” ? If Lord Siva is the Lord of destruction, will he be able to sustain “life eternal” ?

According to Jesus, the will of Darkness is to kill and destroy, but Jesus will is Light and Life, and all things were made by The Only True God who is God of Light and Life.

John 1:
1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4In him was LIFE, and that LIFE was THE LIGHT of men.
