What is the current state of affairs in the SSPX?

The headline of this article is misleading, IMO. The article states that the SSPX bishops have broken off TALKS with the Vatican and are waiting for a decision. But the SSPX has NOT broken with the Catholic Church which is what the headline implies.

I think that’s what so frustrating about this issue–there is so much blurring of information and I’m never sure what the “facts” are. All I know is that our bishop has warned us to stay away from the SSPX, so I do because I trust my bishop. .

That’s right, you can’t actually say without hard evidence. Please don’t speculate. Every Sunday SSPX priests pray for the pope after Mass. The Pope is the Pope no matter what, and deserves due respect and prayers for his enormous job. In my personal dealings with members of SSPX (and there has been a LOT of contact) I have never heard any sede notions, especially not from the clergy.

I am not speculating. I am relying on the posts of others.

And the fact that they continue to pray for the Pope in Masses they have no authority to say does not impress me much. If at all.

It is true what you write and I have watched it over and over. The hardening in their position. Maybe it is on account of having refused grace(s) which causes this. I don’t know for certain. Just thinking out loud. :confused:

The article is sensationalistic, implying some new disobedience occurred, while in actuality they are continuing in their current irregular state. In the actual letter, the SSPX have said nothing they haven’t claimed before.

Their actions, other than posting this letter, continue to show some improvement, such as expelling Bishop Williamson for unauthorized inflammatory statements and fomenting dissidence.
 
My Aunt passed away and at the wake 2 lovely sisters came in and said the Rosary-I spoke with them from a order I had not heard of-next day the funeral in Oyster Bay New York-

Pius the Fifth Society -not the X -service in Latin -like I rememberd from the 50’s -the sisters belong to an order associated with the Pius the Vth group-I had never heard of them-looke like the “old time religon” -they did not seem to be in any hurry to return to Orthdoxy-:eek:
