What is the death of a Christian?

What happens to Christians after death,but before the Judgement Day? I will express my beliefs during the thread.When you express what you believe,please give a short explaination why you believe it.God Bless You:)
 
For a Christian there are two forms of death. The first is the spiritual death that comes about because of sin. This is expressed in the Book of Ezekiel chapter 37 where the prophet Ezekiel describes the valley of dry bones. However, this form of spiritual death can be overcome by listening to God (see Ezekiel chapter 37):

“And I shall put my spirit in you, and you will live…” (Ezekiel 37:14)

The other death, is the death in the flesh, when the body is separated from the spirit. This is the point where the spirit that has been blessed with God’s grace will know its final destination, and the wicked will know the real meaning of eternal damnation.

In addition to the above, we can infer that to a Christian, true death would come to him if he fails to persevere till the end, for as Matt. 24:13 says:

But he who endures to the end will be saved.
It is thus clear that only those who remain steadfast shall gain salvation.

Also 2 Peter 3:17 states that:

***You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, beware lest you be carried away with the error of lawless men and lose your own stability. ***
We are warned by the passage not to let ourselves be corrupted and deluded, which implies that even a Christian can fail and fall.
True death for a Christian would be the eternal separation of the soul from God.

Hi Lisa4Catholics,
As you know I am not a catholic, nor anything except a Christian.
The first death to me is the death in the flesh,
The second is the Lake of Fire.
Those who die in Christ during the special period of Tribulation will live and reign with Him for 1000 years and will not fear the second death.
When Christ returns, there will be a rapture where all are held safely until new heavens and a new earth is made then all people will be judged on their works done in accordance to the will of the Holy Spirit.All people will now believe in and bow their knee to Jesus. Works will decide our social status in the new Jerusalem.
After our death but before this people will either be in paradise or in hell. As paradise has only a narrow road not many will make it.
The wide road leading to hell will be full until judgement. Hell will be hell, but the fire will purify until judgement. I’m not going there because I have a great big dose of health fear and reverence to fill out my love for Him.

I suppose there would have to be the perception of time after death, and I’m not quite sure that’s the case.

I envision the difference between death and Judgment Day to be the blink of an eye.

Does “time” carry over into the after life? If not, then the question of what happens in between events is moot.
 
Thats a good question. Does “time” contenue after bodily death?

I cannot concieve that passage of time is realized by a spirit after leaving a dead body.

If time were to be passing when a spirit is outside of earth time, then it couldn’t go backward.

We Catholics say that Christ’s death on the cross is “visited” by us during the Sacrifice of the Mass. That means that Christ’s death is timeless or outside of time. If it weren’t we could not mystically revisite it.
