What is the definition of prayer?

I have been searching foe a definition of prayer, and in all of the definitions that I have found on line, I can’t dispute any that I have found, but, I don’t find any to be completely satisfying to me, am I correct in offering my own?

prayer is a conversation with God, and paying attention to Him?

Please help.
