So what is the difference between a Chaplet and a Rosary?

When does one use the Chaplet, and how does one say a Chaplet as opposed to a Rosary?

Thanks!

That really depends on the Chaplet. There are many Chaplets that are said on Rosary beads. There are others that have their own beads.
Please keep in mind beads are only a tool to help with counting. So don’t let that be a deterrent to not saying a Chaplet or a Rosary. The power is in the prayer and the faith of the person, not in the beads.

I found a great website that has various Chaplets.

Well, a Rosary is a prayer particularly to Mary. The chaplet can be said through intercession of saints, but often uses the Rosary beads for counting.

Actually the Rosary is a Chaplet.

Here is a link to the Catholic Encyclopedia that talks about this.

Use of Beads at Prayers

As the first sentence says…
Beads variously strung together, according to the kind, order, and number of prayers in certain forms of devotion, are in common use among Catholics as an expedient to ensure a right count of the parts occurring in more or less frequent repetition.
Hope that helps!
