Interesting choice of geographical identity. Most people would have no distinction between bituminous and anthracite and one probably wouldn’t use the soft or hard distinction, unless from the area.
That was a common distinction among us, as many of our ancestors immigrated alternatively to the hard coal regions - Scranton, Wilkes-Barre, Hazeltown - of the soft coal regions in the south west quadrant of PA.
