If you were going to present the Gospel to an unbeliever what is THE Gospel message that you would present?

If one goes by the term “gospel” as “good news”, then the gospel, summarized, would be this: That God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. That in Christ Jesus we have become heirs and adopted sons of God, and that through following the teachings of Jesus with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will become dead to sin and alive to God. That the teachings of Jesus include most of all the first great commandment, to “love the Lord thy God with all one’s heart, soul, mind and strength”, and the second, “to love one’s neighbor as oneself”.

What better news could there be than knowing that Christ has redeemed us from the original sin and its aftereffects, has made the perfect sacrifice of obedience that has forever atoned for humanity’s sin (s) of disobedience and all the other sins that have followed it, that we can know, love and serve God in this life and forever afterward be joined together with God for all eternity?

The message that Jesus brought and that he told his disciples to spread was this:

“The reign of God is at hand Reform your lives, and believe the good news”

This is the heart of the Gospel message.

Probably the best introduction to what that means is the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew 5-7.

If I were going to present the gospel to anyone, that is where I would start.

John 3:16-18, the evangelicals have it right this time.
Actually that has been the central them of catholcism just read the catholic saints. I thik you will see that in the life of St Francis and Mother Teressa. Evangeliclas have simply rediscovered catholic truth that we tend to forget. Just like Luther he didn’t find anything new Augstine taught we are saved by the grace of Christ through faith.
Luther as an Augstinina monk rediscovered that. His confersor told him to Read Romans to get over his feeling of not being forgiven no matter how much he did. Luther did not discover Romans his catholic superior pointed him to it.
The church mired in corruption forgot to emphasize we are saved freely. Of course Luther later took it too far.
Same thing with God’s love for us that has always been among the primary teachings of the church. We taught that first ages before the first american evangelical discovered that though a catholic book (Gospel of John).

Resurrection. That is the ONLY THING that matters is the Gospels. Without it, we are blabbering fools.
As a result of it, we have hope beyond the end of this life.
