What is the non-Catholic Response to Mary Apparitions?

Yeah, I do. A good friend of mine saw our Lady as a child.

Does anybody else suffer a crisis of faith by not seeing them? I know it sometimes frustrates me, but I am comforted by this verse in the Gospel of John (20:29):

“Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen me but still have believed.’”
 
Don’t know, and since that isn’t a poll option, I’m not voting.
 
Personally I’ve noticed many of these events follow a set pattern. Encounter Mary, get told God is angry with the world, here is a new devotion to fix things and some prophecies.

Personally I think the Church keeps tons on file the releases them at intervals when they find one that matches current events. But that is just me, of course I also believe in lying spirits.
 
While I’m not in a position to pass judgment on any of them in particular, I do think there are valid ones out there. I have been personally persuaded regarding Guadalupe, Fatima, Lourdes, and Akita upon my own reading and investigation. However, I’ve found a bit of a disparity in the actual words of the messages received, and the application or interpretation of those utterances through various means… sometimes with more or less polemical spin. Of course, I’ve never stumbled across a Marian visitation that condemned the confessional Lutheran Christianity which I believe, teach, and confess… so if I do, I might have to do some serious soul searching in that regard.

On a personal note, after a particularly harrowing demonic confrontation, very shortly after my ordination to the priesthood, my wife believes she saw the Blessed Virgin for only a brief moment while I slept exhausted. She said it was the most amazing thing she’s ever seen, and left her with a sense that we were both beloved and protected.

Anyway, I vote “yes.”

Long before I embraced The Holy Catholic Church, I was a lutheran. I was lutheran because that’s the church my folks took me to. HOWEVER, I knew deep in my little wanna be Catholic heart that there was far more to faith than what I’d been taught. I read The Song of Bernadette as a very young woman and believed implicitly in the entire experience of the apparition.
Now I am almost old (:D) and the one and only thing I still want to do is go to Lourdes and walk in the footsteps of Bernadette.
Another wonderful book to read is The Voyage To Lourdes by Alexis Carrel. It was written by a skeptical scientist who writes of the most profound spiritual experience of his life in the year 1903.
Do I believe in Marian apparitions? Absolutely!!

So if your pastor ever says, “The Spirit inspired me to say this…” or “The Lord whispered to my heart last night and said this…” you would disregard everything he says?

That’s a very misleading way of putting it. The Blessed Mother has appeared to us and spoken to us so that we may be more faithful to her Son. If anything, they are warnings that we need to get it together. 👍 But more importantly, they are reminders of God’s mercy and love and the refuge we can find in His Sacred Heart.
