I am not sure if I’m posting this in the right category, but I’m interested in the Thomistic view of the human soul. I understand the terms will, intellect, and imagination separately, but I’m interested in how they work together. When we have our internal monologue, for example, is this an activity in the will, the intellect, or the imagination? The human mind is always producing thoughts, so how do we distinguish which thoughts are happening in different parts of the soul? I understand that images occur in the imagination, but what about language? Can language occur in the imagination or only in the intellect?
